 Cleveland’s OCA Image TV Ohio receives

OCA’s 2010 Chapter Excellence Award for Communications

Cleveland, OH: The Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), announced Saturday, June 19 that Cleveland’s  OCA Image TV has received OCA’s 2010 Chapter Excellence Award for Communications.

OCA, a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans, has over 84 chapters and affiliates across the United States. This year at the annual OCA National Convention held in Houston, TX, Chapter Excellence Awards were presented for the categories of membership, economic development, programs & projects, local community involvement, advocacy, and communications.

OCA Cleveland Chapter’s President Johnny Wu and OCA Image TV co-host Vi Huynh, gratefully accepted the Communications Award with a comedic acceptance speech video that showed off some of their high-tech video tricks. On a more serious note, Huynh said, “We would like to thank everyone involved in making the show a great success for Cleveland’s Asian community.” OCA Image TV was also nominated under the Program & Projects category. OCA Image TV is a high energy television show that provides Ohioans with a better understanding of their various Asian cultures. Each episode includes segments on a variety of diverse topics related to education, culture, traditions, food, health and beauty, fashion, sports, arts and entertainment, news, current issues and upcoming events. The first four episodes have contained the exciting themes of Lunar New Year, Asian-style weddings, health and wellness and Cleveland’s Asian town.

OCA Image TV is shot in high definition at Creative House Studios and on location in downtown Cleveland. Episodes are available on Time Warner’s channel 20 (reaching over 500,000 households), www.ocagc.org, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and as podcast on iTunes. Along with the studio’s crew members, local members of the Organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland (OCAGC) help with the show’s production and marketing.

OCAGC is a non-profit, non-partisan civil rights and educational organization. OCAGC is part of the National OCA, working with other organizations and communities dedicated to promoting cultural heritage, active participation in civic and community affairs, securing justice, and equal treatment and equal opportunity for all Americans of Asian Pacific Islander descent.  More at www.ocagc.org.
