Discussion with Filmmakers to follow

Join us for a free screening of I Learn America: One High School, One School Year, Five New Americans, a new documentary that is inspiring viewers at film festivals across the U.S.   The film follows five immigrant teenagers over the course of one year at the International High School at Lafayette, a public high school in Brooklyn dedicated to newly arrived immigrants from all over the world.  The students strive to master English, adapt to families they haven’t seen in years, confront universal trials of adolescence, and search for a future they can claim as their own.  A conversation with filmmaker Jean-Michel Dissard and educators and students featured in the film will follow the screening.

Seating is limited and RSVP is required, please visit facinghistory.org/communityconversations or call 216.321.9220 x221.  As part of Facing History’s national series of Community Conversations this event is free and open to the public.
