2021 Lunar New Year Calendar

The Lunar New Year or Spring Festival is commonly referred to as Chinese New Year, Tết in Vietnamese, Seollal in Korean, Losar in Tibet, and Tsagaan Sar in Mongolian.  It is one of the most celebrated holidays in Asia and many Asian-American communities throughout the US.

2021 is the Year of the Metal Ox which begins on Friday, February 12th, and lasts for fifteen days.  The holiday is a time for renewal, new clothes, lucky greetings, and feasting for family and friends.  It is celebrated with lucky symbolic foods, family reunions, and time spent with friends and loved ones.  Those born in the year of the Ox are methodical, steadfast, and dependable.

Celebrate the Year of the Ox in Northeast Ohio by attending some of the events and programs listed below.  Due to the current pandemic, many events have moved online but are free to watch from the comforts of your home.
